I smell birds, possibly finches, were here 20 minutes ago. The debris under the arbor says a skunk passed by about 1:38am. And...yep, I smell my breakfast is about to be served.

Am I a scary dog or a lucky dog? Big dogs, and often even their shadows, can seem scary to people, but as a large adopted as an adult dog, I'm more lucky than scary. I can cast a mean looking shadow on my afternoon walk, but this senior dog couldn't be more lamb than wolf.

Savoring a dog treat. Chewing your meal thoroughly with what few teeth you have -- these are all good ideas for us seniors. As we get older, a pearl (or liver treat) of wisdom I've learned, is to take my time.
