Friday Friends - Smalls dogs of Hayes Valley

The Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco has some really cute dogs. It is well known that I have a sweet spot for small dogs, and it looks like I missed out last weekend. Going to have to get started on getting over my issues with the moving bed (car) if I want to visit this part of town. Grrr.

Do you see what I see? I see potential shame and embarrassment from neighborhood friends. To you, it may look like a cute wolf in sheeps clothing, but to me I see flags all over the field. BOL (Hey, it's NFL season now!)

Adoptable Duncan - Senior Dachshund in Culbertson, NE

Duncan is a very special boy! He is very content to lay at your feet and just relax. That is, when he is not exploring his surroundings.

You see, Duncan is blind :-( He has very limited sight, but can tell light from dark and recognizes some shapes. After he has had time to get acclimated, he does well at maneuvering obstacles. He is able to go outside, in a fenced yard of course! He also loves to go for a walk on leash.

Adoptable Abbott - Senior Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie in Circle Pines, MN

Abbott is a darling boy who lived all his life in a rabbit cage at a puppy mill. He has the sweetest demeanor, and he is learning that petting feels really good! He has begun to wag his tail and hopes that a gentle and patient person is looking for a cute little sable boy like him. 

AGE: 8 years

SIZE: 30 lbs. - a bit overweight

TEMPERAMENT: Abbott is a sweet and gentle guy who has had limited experiences in his life. He responds well to people who take things very slowly with him. 

FENCE: A secure 6 foot wood privacy fence with direct access from the house is required. Abbott has demonstrated his spiderman abilities to scale chainlink fences! His instinct when frightened is to get away from what is scaring him. 

DOGS: Abbott gets along well with other dogs, and looks to them for safety and security

Adoptable Healy! Alaskan Malamute in Anchorage, AK

Healy needs a home because she didn't get along with her housemate, a pitbull.

Healy is a very active 10 yo female malamute who loves people including children but perhaps not young children. Healy is a very fun dog to have around in the house. She is an active dog who loves to go for walks, and will follow you throughout the house and yard.

Like many malamutes she has her set of quirks, she loves her stuffy toys, she throws herself against the door when she wants to come in and she will climb on you for a couple of minutes to show her affection. The only bad habit we've seen is she resource guards her favorite person, but that has been easily handled with her by gently removing her from the scene. She shows little interest in other dogs on her walks in the neighborhood.

Adoptable July - Beagle/Coonhound Mix in Mountain View, AR

Hello, my new name is July. My previous owner abandoned me and I found my way to Pam's Paw/Hoof Pets Rescue. I am about three yrs old. I am healthy, HW negative, now on preventative and F/T preventative. I am Neutered and UTD on all my vaccines.

I love people and get along with other dogs, I bark at cats but don't chase them. I sport a large, heart shaped spot on my back . I have a great Walker hound voice and use it to tell my foster folks that I am happy to be here, and on my way to a forever home. I enjoy my crate and gladly go there for a treat. I don't like thunder but, I don't panic when in my crate in the dog room here at Pam's Paw/Hoof Pets Rescue.

Remarkably I don't fear gun fire. I walk on a leash without fear or tugging. I'm OK about car rides now that I know I won't be dumped again. I am very active and love to sniff out the critters around here. I have learned to enjoy being petted, but I don't jump-up on people.

Adoptable Shira - Schipperke in Upland, CA

Shira was rescued from the Upland Animal Shelter. Shira is about 5 years old. She is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. She has color dilution alopecia, which has caused some hair loss. This condition is basically a cosmetic one with no health issues due to this condition. Fostered in Claremont, CA.
