Vet Visit Part 2: Smell My Feet

Monday means my follow up visit to the vet specialist. Last time she pulled hair from my ears and shaved parts of my dog fur off! Grr but I forgive. We return to see how I'm doing on my Atopica and Ketaconazole. Maybe she will suggest I stop? Not sure but I'll let you know.

This weekend my female told me she is going to bathe me, so I smell nice for the vet. Boo. Though as you can see from this first photo, it is probably a good idea. Dr Reinke gets all up close and personal with her examination. BOL - that tickled!

Small Dog Sports Royal Purple

I've nothing against the royal wedding, but My big plans will be celebrating Hairball Awareness Day tomorrow. In honor of the British Royal Family though, let me introduce you to this adorable wee pup sporting a leash in the royal purple. Hip Hip Hooray!!

Genuine Dog Fur

Call me a green dog or an eco-friendly pup, but what you see here is a fresh pile of stinky somewhat clean genuine German Shepherd-Husky fur. I made it myself, like those holes in the garden.

Anna Bettina is a professional with over 12 yrs experience creating well-behaved, happy, healthy companions. She has an Animal Sciences degree from the University of Hawaii, with a focus on clinical small animal nutrition. While living on the islands she was able to experience the training and handling of many different types of animals, including captive dolphins, sea turtles and tortoises. Her love of animals also led her to start a non-profit rare breed mastiff rescue where she worked to rehabilitate and place these giant dogs.

She has worked with a variety of animals in zoos, animal sanctuaries and even the World Center for Birds of Prey where she cared for and handled large captive birds. She takes her unique experiences and combines them to help you understand your companion on a completely different level.

Anna is a CAP certified instructor (which is currently the only professional certification that actually assesses the skills, abilities and knowledge of the handler). She has a Best Friends Animal Sanctuarycertified training center, and is a founding member of the Never Shock a Puppy coalition. She has also been approved by the Truly Dog Friendly association and FearfulDogs.com as a recommend trainer.

She very much enjoys educating people about holistic remedies and healing nutrition. She is a Certified Flower Essence Practitioner, a Holistic Animal Practitioner and Canine Nutrition Consultant. Anna has been featured in the prestigious Utah Business Magazine as well as the local paper, IN This Week. She is locally known and recommended by well-known veterinarians and many well-respected nonprofit rescue groups. Anna has a soft spot for rescue and ran her own nonprofit rescue for six years. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for Utah's pitbull rescue, Have Pittie.

Why Dogs Love Holiday Feasts

My favorite part about having a holiday that includes lots of eating by PL? Today he had to exercise his meal off and I got to not only go on an epic walk, but as you can see here, I get to sniff his sneakers. Heaven.

Furry Friends: Earth Day Edition

Today is Earth Day. Normally I like to spend it digging in the earth. It can be at the beach, digging in the sand or even in my own backyard. I'm okay with either.

Earth Day is also a day for me to wait patiently while my female picks up then composts my poop. It is a day for me to share my shedding German Shepherd and Husky fur with the many birds, building and insulating their spring nests. 

What made today extra special was meeting this cute canine fellow on my afternoon walk. He's a looker and I definitely stopped in my tracks when we saw him. It was almost as if, The Earth Stood Still...BOL

Hot Spots Suck

Dog hot spots must be like the human hang nail.

Something that starts out small, and insignificant, then you touch it, worry at it, and voila! Your nothing, in the span of about 10 minutes is a big stinky something, that a vet is taking an electric razor to. Grrrr.

The first photo is the homemade bandage treatment PL gave me after finding the clump of hair hid an infected spot on my tail.

They used so much hydrogen peroxide to foam away the gunk. Do you like the ouchless treatment they wrapped it up with? Not too bad actually.
