I live in San Francisco, on a hill. San Francisco is along and near multiple fault lines. (BC) Before Cleo, my pack went through the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Our home is away from the tsunami vulnerable beach area, where I like to run and play. We expect to go through another earthquake in the future, maybe in my lifetime maybe not. The city created an organization called 72Hours.org to help all of us to prepare for a major disaster.
Why am I sharing this information? I want you to understand that you can be prepared for disasters when you live in vulnerable areas, but when an emergency strikes you still need help from others.
Please join us to help spread the word about Paws for Japan, a day when the pet community will come together to support relief efforts for animals in Japan. Besides search and rescue efforts, there are veterinary supplies desperately needed: de-worming medicines, vaccinations, fluid replacements, wound treatments, and cages.

Such a good cause that will save so many animals. My heart is breaking for Japan, her people and her pets.

I think about all of you who live on the fault line. Japan, right after Christchurch. It's hard not to think about it. Thanks for this post. I just heard about this fundraiser bloghop this morning. I managed to post something but didn't realize or mention blogpaws' involvement. Perhaps I should go back and add that bit in :)
Take care.

Wow. 72hours.org is a great site. Mom loves it! She was in the middle of the 71 Sylmar quake in California as a kid. It was crazy but only a 6.1. Not even comparable to Japan's recent quake with aftershocks in the 7's.
We've bookmarked 72hours.org.

Glad that organizations are willing to rescue the dogs and other pets that involuntarily lost their owners.
