Andrea is currently on Animal Planet's shows Underdog to Wonderdog, Dogs101, and Cats101. She was the trainer for The Pet Department, FX's Emmy nominated daily show, and appears regularly on The Today Show. Her appearances also include Live with Regis & Kelly, 20/20, Dateline NBC, The View, CBS News, CNN, Fox, PBS, Fox News, and Lifetime, as well as numerous radio shows.
In addition to currently working on a new book, she is the author of Dog Friendly Dog Training (Wiley, 2007), Train Your Dog the Lazy Way (Macmillan, 1999), and The Little Book of Dog Tricks (IDG, 2002). She has been the behavior columnist for Dog Fancy and The New York Dog magazines as well as a contributing writer for the AKC Gazette, Modern Dog and numerous other publications.
Andrea has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Animal Haven Shelter and Sanctuary.
Andrea is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers and a Certified Pet Partners Team evaluator for the Delta Society and the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. She is the director of Andrea Arden Dog Training, and was named the best dog trainer in New York by New York, W, Time Out and Quest magazines and the Daily News.
What is your idea of perfect happiness? A pretty perfect day for me would be waking up to go for a horseback ride, then time spent with my nephews doing something silly like miniature golf or going to an arcade. In the afternoon, I would head to Animal Haven Shelter and roll up my sleeves to help out with the animals, whether bathing them, cleaning up or helping to teach them skills that will increase their chances of adoption. The ending to a perfect day is seeing a dog or cat go home with their new family and then for me to head back to my house to snuggle with my own animals. If I had to pick just one moment, it would be sitting in a field on a sunny day watching my animals romp around.

Dogs love any kind of tasty training reward. No matter what my Vet says, I will never say no to meat of any kind. Dogs love treats. I wasn't asked to do this product review. My female I think, just tried to bribe me or maybe assuage her guilt by giving me freeze dried liver. Considering I'm a dog, and I don't even know what "assuage" means, all I really care about is the fact that she had LIVER.
My review of Etta Says! Chicken Liver dog treats, begins with smell. No offense to the manufacturer but I could totally smell through the packaging. I'm not sure if they meant for that to happen. It sure didn't help my female trying to sneak up on me with them. BOL.

Canine companionship. The human-dog bond. You can find real examples of these every week in my house. This week we have been celebrating National Dog Week [September 20-25] with dog people and a lady covered in cat hair.
My female is showing me all of her photos from Denver and the BlogPaws West conference. She wished I could travel with her, and though she missed me, she got some canine love from Twitter animal friends like Cosmo. This photo at the Grand Hyatt Denver is one of my favorites. Welcome water bowls are always appreciated when it's hot out on my "wanna go for a walk".

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I
have so many, but not any one is all that exotic. For me, I take joy in
the little things: When my foster kittens are all lapping at their
food, some even purring as they eat; their tummies are full and I know
they’re safe. Or when I get the call that the cats I just pulled from a
kill shelter are at the Vet and their snap tests are negative. Not only
are those cats out of danger, their futures are bright. Lastly, being in
bed covered with my cats on a weekend, with the snow gently falling
outside, a good book in hand and a cup of tea works for me.
If you could come back as a dog or a cat, which one would it be and why?
I’d
come back as dog because I’m not so sure I want to lick myself clean
every day, as cats do. Also, I think it would be really fun to BARK,
really loud—especially at inappropriate times!

Dogs almost always hate baths. Unless you and your pack are together from the start, meaning you are a puppy when you see your first bath, good luck. Positive bathing experiences for dogs are rare. There is a long history for humans to think we won't notice or care, if you hose us down with cold water from a hose in the backyard.
Ocean baths are ideal if you are like me and live near an off leash beach in San Francisco. They are my first choice every time. Salty water to bite, possible stinky stuff to roll in, puppy pals to play with.
However if you do not live near the ocean, you can always take your pooch to a self-service dog wash facility like Pawtrero Bathhouse. It isn't so bad, they have all the tools your PL needs, including treats to entice you up the ramp and into the tub.
However if you don't have the option of taking your pooch somewhere, then here are ten easy steps to giving your pup a bath at home.
