Weekend Pet Blogger Hop

I'm sort of glad it's the weekend because Friday my female was all kinds of distracted with her morning spent at Muttville, and I admit I got a little jealous because the smells that came home on her pants were telling me she met cute dogs.

Leading up to this new friendship with Muttville, was her being away from me shopping for dog food that wasn't for my food bowl (gasp) and then my having to have my photo taken with it! Harumpff!

But since I do live in the now, the weekend is here and I know I'm getting in some serious cuddle time and play time with my pack.  And I promise to take some time to visit my blogger buddies, like you guys, during the weekend pet blogger hop!  This is one of my favorite ways to meet new buddies and visit with dear ol' friends too! Woohoo!

Friday Friend - Neighborhood Mini-Me

They always say you have a double out there. Well, this could be mine, if I was shorter and they gave me a summer buzz cut.

This cute pooch though was panting like I do in the summer sunshine, even if we have cool fog making its way towards our area of the city.  A sweetie like me (cough cough, I can say that about myself if I truly believe it), this pup deserves a shout out because they were incredible calm and confident when I strutted walked by on my way home.

Oh miss, please step aside and open your bag

Man I love it when my female goes to the store. The grocery bags smell great on the outside and inside! Sometimes I even get a few licks in on the exterior of ground beef before I get caught.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Perfect happiness to me is spending Saturday morning snuggled in bed with my husband, my dogs, big mugs of coffee, and the newspaper. Bonus points if it's raining or snowing. 

If you could come back as a dog or a cat, which one would it be and why?

A dog with a good person. I'd love to spend my days eating, napping in the sun, playing, getting scratches, then eating and napping again!

If you could have one animal trait what would it be?

I'm so clumsy! I think I'd like to have the balance of a flamingo.

Your proudest achievement so far?

Walking my dog Lucas through any pet store, park, or other crowded place! Adopting a terrified, miserable, emotional wreck of a pup who resorted to aggression every time he feared something - which was actually everything - and helping him to become a friendly, outgoing, playful dog is absolutely my proudest achievement. It's been hard work every single day for the last three years, and we still have improvements to make, but seeing him play with other dogs makes me absolutely burst with pride.

Who are your heroes in real life?

Oprah (is that too obvious?), my dad because he is kind to absolutely everyone, and my husband for working as hard as he does to follow his dreams.

Groovy Weekend Pet Blogger Hop

Nevada Humane Society created a really funny video – it’s an adoption spin off of the famous JK Wedding Entrance Dance - that you might have already seen by now.  A nice guy named Evan sent me an email with the request that we help spread the word and so here you go. 

Consider sharing this so they feel the support of all of us pet lovers, Nevada Humane Society is one of the largest no kill shelters in the nation. It'd be a nice way of joining in the Be the Change for Pets.

Friday Friend - in memoriam - Justin

We lost our best friend recently, the kids in the afternoon seem so quiet and the dog bus feels so empty. Justin was part of the Chattanooga play group that I go out with every week.  Mary, our leader sent along this email that I wanted to share. 

Justin was one of the original pack members and all of the dogs who rode with him loved him because of his gentle presence: a Master of peaceful reassurance for the fearful Play Group 'beginners' as well as a handy cushion and stepping stool for the bouncy-klutzy pups and laid-back seniors. Justin knew their good and bad habits and was so incredibly tolerant. From the youngsters to old-timers they all loved the boy and --to a dog (honest)-- had to lick his face and head at least once during the ride to and from the parks. This affectionate greeting was initiated by Roscoe, our social director, but as the years passed and dogs came and went through the pack each dog acquired the same habit. This honorable tribute and display of respect belonged solely to Justin. Yet the boy remained humble and low-key.

I pass along my thoughts to all of you because your beloved creatures' lives were enriched by Justin's presence and their play times with him made so much happier. Justin gave all of us so much and we miss him.
